Anyone familiar with this branch of medicine, thousands of years old from India? I'm reading a book by Dr. Deepak Chopra MD called PERFECT HEALTH THE COMPLETE MIND BODY GUIDE giving readers an introduction to it. It's worth IMO at least consideration. Ayurveda, or 'life science' trains physicians to first look at WHO they are dealing with rather than their specific problem. It explains several body types, which helps answer questions like How one person can look at food & gain weight while another can scarf even high fat high cal foods and not gain an ounce; how that cup of orange juice one loves in the morning is indigestion material for another, etc. It deals more with individual responses to food, bacteria, toxins, etc. rather than pointing a finger at various foods, toxins, etc. My personal example is how I am rather a not so great housekeeper, and if folks saw my house they'd say "Squid it's no wonder you're asthmatic" yet how do these same folks explain how neither my husband or daughter has it? So far interesting reading; couldn't decide whether to post it here or the book nook, but this was my choice.
